BOMA shows owners where their machines are and what they are doing. ReachUp Ltd makes BOMA. This page says what BOMA keeps, why, and how to have it removed.
What BOMA keeps
- Your account. Your name, email address and phone number, the name and phone number of your business, its country, and your role in it. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash.
- Your machines. What the BOMA tracker on each machine sends: its position, speed, ignition, engine hours, fuel level and the other readings the tracker makes. From these BOMA works out trips, loads, stops, refuels and alerts.
- What you enter. Drivers’ names and phone numbers, plates and fleet numbers, rates, service notes, hour-meter readings and the cards you share inside BOMA.
- Your phone, for notifications. If you allow notifications, the push token of your phone, its language and which alerts you want.
BOMA does not read your phone’s location, contacts or photos. It only adds a card to your photos when you tap Save. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking in BOMA, and BOMA does not sell or rent any data.
Who else sees it
- People in your business who you or your admins add to BOMA, as their role allows.
- The companies that run parts of BOMA for us, only for that job: Akamai (Linode), where BOMA’s servers and data are; Expo, Apple and Google, which deliver notifications to your phone; and OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim, which BOMA asks for the name of the place a machine is at, sending only the machine’s position.
- Your phone loads map and satellite pictures straight from OpenFreeMap, Esri and Amazon Web Services. They see your phone’s internet address and the part of the map you look at, as any website would.
Data travels encrypted between the app, the console and BOMA’s servers.
How long BOMA keeps it
As long as your account and your business use BOMA. When an account is deleted, its personal details go with it. When a business leaves BOMA, its machines’ data is deleted with it.
Your choices
- Turn notifications on or off for each kind of alert in Settings, or for all of BOMA in your phone’s settings.
- Ask for a copy of your data or a correction by writing to apps@boma.tech.
- Ask for your account to be deleted, in the app or by email. See Delete your account.
